A Cabal Online private server is an independent project based on the client of ESTsoft's action-MMORPG Cabal Online (released in Korea in 2005). Such servers run separately from the official publisher and offer adjusted progression rates, custom mechanics and different episode versions — from the classic Episode 8 to later ones. Players are drawn by tailored settings and nostalgia for earlier versions. The official game is still running, so private servers are an alternative with different conditions.
Private servers cover a wide range of episodes. The classic Episode 8 remains popular for its familiar balance without later classes, while newer episodes add the Gladiator, Force Gunner and Dark Mage classes, the Force Wing system and an updated endgame.
